When is the Best Time to Get Your HVAC System Repaired?

All of a sudden, the heat starts to make a clicking noise when you turn it on. Or your HVAC system isn’t able to cool your house down to the temperature listed on your thermostat.

Is it time to call someone to see if you need to get an HVAC repair? Here are the top four times you’ll want to call a repair service.

Thermostat Is Broken

The thermostat is the brain of your HVAC system. By setting the temperature, it tells the entire system when to turn it on and off. More sophisticated thermostats also allow you to set a schedule for each day of the week for when to increase or decrease the temperature in your home.

When your thermostat malfunctions, it can lead to a variety of problems with the temperature control in your home. It may not turn on heat or AC when needed and/or there could be no fans whatsoever rotating inside an enclosed space like this would create falsely high humidity levels making you even more uncomfortable than before!

Dirty or Clogged Filter

Did you know that one of the most common problems with an HVAC system is a clogged filter? The filters are found in your return pipe, which connects to outdoor air. They’re meant for filtering out all dust and dirt from inside so it doesn’t circulate around more than necessary!

The good news is that if you can reach your returns, you can easily switch out a dirty filter yourself. If your return is somewhere you can’t reach (in a cathedral ceiling, etc), it’s important to call someone out to do an HVAC repair and replace it for you.

Ignition or Pilot Control Problem

The heat doesn’t come out of your vents when you turn on the pilot light, this could be because there is no electricity going into it. The ignition or burner then lights up and warms air before releasing that hot breath into our homes!

If you’ve got a problem with the pilot control or ignition, your air won’t heat up. There’s not much you can do on your own to fix this. If you don’t want to be left out in the cold, call a reputable company out to repair it immediately.

Loud Air Compressor

A loud banging, rattling, hissing or any other type of noise from your air compressor is a bad sign. These noises can indicate anything from a loose part to a refrigerant leak. In a worst-case scenario, a hissing or screaming noise can indicate a build-up of pressure inside the system that can be very dangerous.

If you’re still using an old HVAC system, it might be time for a replacement! A professional company can tell if your compressor is working properly and recommend what type of new one would work best.
